The Lodger Landlord is the brain child of solicitor, and residential landlord and tenant specialist, Tessa Shepperson (BA, LLB).

Tessa has for many years run an online service for residential landlords and tenants at www.landlordlaw.co.uk. This has always included information about lodgers and downloadable lodger agreements. However people who rent out a room to lodgers do not generally want to join a web-site aimed at landlords.

This site is for them.  Although lodgers themselves will no doubt find it interesting, the site is written primarily for the landlords, hence the site title ‘Lodger Landlords’.

Note that the site will not just cover legal matters.  We will also look at other aspects of having lodgers such as providing meals and services.  Some of these posts will have affiliate links.

If you are a lodger landlord, please do sign up for our free mailings list (the sign up form is to your right).  This will include all blog posts, plus other occasional messages and newsletters.

Incidentally, Tessa was a lodger landlord herself from about 1989 until 1995. So this web-site is based not only on her legal knowledge, but also her personal experience of renting rooms in her house to lodgers for six years.
