The Lodger Landlord is the brain-child of residential landlord and tenant specialist lawyer, Tessa Shepperson.
Tessa has for many years run an online service for residential landlords and tenants at www.landlordlaw.co.uk. Prior to 2010, this included information about lodgers and downloadable lodger agreements. However, people who rent out a room to lodgers do not generally want to join a web-site aimed at landlords.
So this site was written for them. Although lodgers themselves will no doubt find it interesting, the site is written primarily for their landlords, hence the site title ‘Lodger Landlords’.
Note that the site does not just cover legal matters. We also look at other aspects such as providing meals and services.
Incidentally, Tessa was a lodger landlord herself from about 1989 until 1995. So this web-site is based not only on her legal knowledge but also her personal experience of renting rooms in her house to lodgers for six years.
