Renting rooms to lodgers in your own home, tends to be a lot more informal than renting out a flat or house to tenants.

Many lodger landlords will indeed rent out their rooms with no paperwork at all.

This is all well and good if your relationship with the lodger goes will.  However if there are problems, having a properly drafted lodger agreement which clearly sets out each parties rights and obligations will be invaluable.
